The National Association of Realtors® reports that The Pending Homes Sales Index has increased for the second consecutive month. This Index is a forward-looking indicator based on the number of contracts signed. The better news is that the first region to slump was the Northeast and according to the NAR it is also showing marked signs of recovery.

Both the market and the weather are welcoming buyers from the Northeast. So come sit on our porch and let’s talk about how good life can be for you here.

Dominoes

We just received an e-mail from a local lender that the 30-year rate is now at 5.75%.

Okay.

The lenders are doing their part.  We, the Realtors, are at-the-ready to do our part.

So what's causing the log jam in the real estate market?

I figure that it's one guy somewhere who has his house priced too high.  When he finally brings his price back to the world of real, then he'll jumpstart the momentum we need.  Here's how it will play out:  the family that wanted his house can now afford to buy it.  That family can now sell their home to another family that can now afford to buy it because they were able to sell their house.  And so on, and so on, and so on.

We just need to find that guy who's holding up the housing market, and then -- just like dominoes -- everything will fall into place.  Quickly.
